Positive Images Festival 2021: Coventry Fusion
‘When Music Meets Poetry’

 

This month, Coventry’s Positive Images Festival is trialling a great opportunity and experience for poets and musicians! Creatives in the city will have the chance to participate in one of two workshops with a focus on the collaborative use of music and poetry. Later in the month, there will be an event for the public to enjoy, featuring music and poetry from the workshop leaders, plus several other local poets and musicians.

 

 

Workshop: When Music Meets Poetry
Date: Monday 8th November
Time: 6-7.30PM
Venue: The Box, FarGo Village, Coventry, CV1 5ED
Workshop leaders: 
Poet Andrea Mbarushimana and percussionist Mahendra Patel 
Details: Free workshop – for musicians who can play an instrument and writers with an interest in how poetry and music can complement each other. Andrea and Mahendra will lead a session on poetry and music collaborations. Please bring a poem or instrument (or both!) to work with. To request a space, please email raef@hcemagazine.com.

Event: Coventry Fusion performances 2021
Date: Sunday 21st November
Time: 4-6.30PM
Venue: The Box, FarGo Village, Coventry, CV1 5ED
Details: This free performance event follows on from the workshops in which local poets and musicians explored collaboration. The gig will feature spoken word poetry and music – from Coventry acts such as John Bernard, Andrea Mbarushimana, Barry Patterson, composer/lyricist Amy Kakoura and percussionist Mahendra Patel. All welcome to attend. Drinks and refreshments will be available for purchase from nearby FarGo venue The Factory.
